Summer Camp Coordinator (Seasonal, Full-Time)
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Summer Camp Coordinator is a seasonal leadership role that supports the successful execution of our summer camp program. This position works closely with the Program & Events Manager to ensure smooth daily operations, a positive camper experience, and a safe, organized environment for both campers and staff.
This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced, youth-focused environments and enjoy leading, organizing, and supporting youth-based activities.
YOUR ROLE ON OUR TEAM:
As the Summer Camp Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting daily camp logistics and ensuring a seamless experience for campers, families, and staff. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with pre-camp staff training and preparation
- Supporting daily camp operations, including schedule flow and activity transitions
- Monitoring counselor breaks and providing lunch coverage support
- Tracking attendance details such as late arrivals, early pickups, and aftercare rosters
- Assisting with medication check-in/check-out procedures in accordance with camp policies
- Serving as a point of contact when leadership staff are engaged elsewhere
- Supporting and facilitating games, activities, and group programming
- Communicating with parents/guardians during drop-off, pick-up, and as needed
- Supervising and coordinating the aftercare program
- Maintaining a safe, positive, and engaging environment for campers and staff
- Monitoring camper behavior and assisting with conflict resolution
- Leading backup or indoor activities during inclement weather or schedule changes
- Responding appropriately to minor incidents, illnesses, and daily camper needs
- Assisting with documentation including attendance and incident reports
- Helping with setup, cleanup, and organization of camp spaces and supplies
- Modeling professionalism, teamwork, punctuality, and enthusiasm throughout the season
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work will take place outdoors, exposed to various weather conditions including heat and rain
- May be exposed to hot and humid environments, as well as loud noises and heavy foot traffic
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES HAVE:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Prior experience working with children is required
- Experience in structured youth environments strongly preferred (e.g., teacher, coach, camp staff, childcare provider, education major, youth program leader)
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in summer weather conditions
- Comfortable leading and engaging large groups of children
- Ability to remain flexible, calm, and solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain discretion with confidential information.

REQUIRED SCHEDULE:
- Seasonal position running June through July (8 camp weeks), with some advance training days in May
- Monday through Friday schedule
- Standard hours: approximately 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM (including aftercare)
- Early shift option: approximately 7:45 AM - 4:45 PM when aftercare is not in session
